The Hillsborough Recreation Department is proud to offer an innovative summer learning opportunity for students. The enrichment summer school consists of instruction in core areas as well as physical activity to enrich the body and the mind. Under the leadership of Ms. Lisa Ayer, principal of the Hillsborough Recreation Summer School, your students will be following thetheme this year of Following the North Star to Explore. The theme lends itself to learning and venturing into topics of math, literacy, music, social studies, science, and physical education. The students (and adults) have been home with shelter-in-place (SIP), and we need to spark student interest with ideas of travel, adventure, and exploration.
Our program will run from Monday, July 6th through Friday, July 31st from 9:00-12:00. We will be following all of the County Health Orders including health checks, stable cohorts of 12 children, and social distancing when required.
The major difference this year in our programming will be the combining of grades to minimize space usage on our campuses and the ability to provide bathrooms for each stable cohort, and that we won’t be able to have children rotate through specialists. We will find ways to include specialist-like activities/teaching, but it will look different this summer.
