Description: After running the successful HIVE Summer Program, Hillsborough Recreation is excited to offer child care to families as Hillsborough City School District opens up in Distance Learning. We will provide a minimum of 3 weeks (with week by week registration as we monitor our standing on the State Watchlist) of bubble cohort programming. HIVE Child Care will adapt to provide care as HCSD adapts through their learning models. Click here for more information on plans for when school returns.
As we successfully implemented this summer, we would have our bubbles that are able to interact naturally. Due to new state guidelines masks will be required for students 3rd grade and up while indoors, and students K-2 while not required, will be encouraged to wear masks while indoors. Kids will be able to play together in activities with their dedicated HIVE Staff.
Structure: Our HIVE Staff will guide students through their Distance Learning in the morning (These Staff members are not teachers and will not be teaching curriculum, but will be able to assist students with completing assignments and navigating their time so they can be successful). Students will need to bring their school work and technology to the program. HIVE Staff will support them in work completion and keep them on task during the Distance Learning portion of their day.
In the afternoon, HIVE Staff will engage students in activities that lend themselves to social interaction and enrichment with a focus on STEAM and Sports.
Here are our protocols for the HIVE Child Care program when HCSD is in Distance Learning.

Specific details about each campus plan (i.e. pick-up, drop-off, group assignments, rooms and outdoor spaces, etc.) will be provided once registration is complete and cohort locations are determined.
